FEBE - Sculpture in Murano glass

Febe is a decorative sculpture made with different glass rods in red and ivory, and precious Murano filigree on painted metal support.

The procedure to create this sculpture is very complex and laborious. The first step is to compose the sequence of colors, while the second one is to create the shape. Like the mosaic technique this is realized using pastel and transparent Murano glass in a combination of colors, blended with precious filigree. The glass processing technique is performed entirely by hand. As for the mosaic technique, also in this design multicolored glass rods are meticulously cut and joined together.

In ancient Greek religion Phoebe was one of the original Titans, who were one set of sons and daughters of Uranus and Gaia. She was traditionally associated with the moon. The sculpture is dedicated to this titan.
